Excerpt from the Constitution
A. NAME
The group’s name is Sheppey Light Railway Greenway Community Project Group (“the Group”).
B. THE PURPOSE OF THE GROUP IS:-
To promote and assist, for the public benefit, the construction and maintenance of a public access route across the Isle of Sheppey, between Queenborough and Leysdown on Sea, including a pedestrian path and safe cycle route, along the historic railway route known as the Sheppey Light Railway, which will provide transport and recreation facilities, promote health and wellbeing, environmental protection and reduce traffic congestion.
To advance the education of the public in the history of the old Sheppey Light Railway.
C. CARRYING OUT THE PURPOSES
In order to carry out the purposes, the Committee has the power to: -
a. raise funds, receive grants and donations
b. organise volunteer working parties
c. buy or sell property, take on leases and employ staff
d. co-operate with and support other groups with similar purposes
e. do anything else which is necessary to achieve the purposes
D. MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to anybody who supports the purposes of the group and completes a Membership Form. Membership is free, but Members are encouraged to pay a regular donation if they can afford to do so. The Committee will keep an up-to-date Membership List.
